For the next few months, Seleda Berenda will feature the works of established and emerging Ethiopian artists. We are indebted to Girmay H. Hiwet, himself an artist of much acclaim, for the images. It's rare to find an ardent archivist and an extraordinary legas bundled in the same person. Well, we have found him and we count our blessings, regularly. The Editors.

He precedes the most senior of the celebrated triumvirate (Afework Tekle, Gebrekristos Desta and Skunder Boghossian), by a decade...maybe a little more. He was the director of the Addis Abeba School of Fine Arts for numerous years. Late in life, he painted the walls and ceilings of the largest basilica in Nazeret/Adama. He is an exemplar of industry, temperance and artistry.
